Bike Like a Girl began with a team of women who wanted to Race Across America.  Their coach, Julie Young, had a vision of using the bike to empower and educate girls, teaching skills they will need to journey through life.  This team didn't just succeed in their goal, they broke the existing record riding their bikes from Oceanside, California to Annapolis, Maryland in 6 days, 12 hours and 58 minutes.  They always wanted their mission to be more than their race, so Bike Like a Girl was formed to teach girls about riding their bikes, and to use those bikes to educate about self-confidence, commitment, mental and physical health and well-being, safety, science and engineering, and most of all joy!

Bike Like a Girl is about empowerment and inclusion. We want to provide skills which set girls up for success, and that allow them to tackle any challenge life gives them.  Everyone should get the opportunity to discover what can be learned from the simple act of riding a bike.

This team of women are the current 8-woman team RAAM record holders.  In 2015, they completed RAAM in 6 days, 12 hours and 58 minutes.
